Theresa Binkerd, Art and Environment Liturgist, is a very talented lady who has been involved as an Art and Environment Liturgist since 2005.
Theresa was originally a member of St. Vincent dePaul Church and became a member of All Saints Church when the three Catholic churches consolidated. Born and raised in Logansport and married for 30 years to Keith, a chemist at Purdue, they have two children. Mishayla is a Junior Architect in San Francisco. Drake lives in Logansport and is married to Adrienne and works for Comcast. Theresa and Keith have 2 granddaughters, Jadelynn and Ellison.
In her own words:
For more than 20 years I have worked as a floral designer. In the last three years I have worked part time as a cashier for Martin’s Supermarket. My first love is going on nature walks with Jadey; can’t wait till the weather gets a little warmer and then Ellison can join us. I also enjoy DIY projects like tiling, painting, laying flooring and artsy stuff like creating wreaths. The list seems to keep growing but, unfortunately, the time in a day doesn’t. Father Mike asked me if I would be interested in the Art and Environment Liturgy in 2005. I wasn’t really sure what that involved but I was willing to help out. Since that time, my good friend, Cindy Rose and I have learned that through the course of a liturgical year we will use many colors, symbols, fabrics, living plants and flowers to express the spirit of the season. Images are used more than words because it is important that these sacred events are conveyed to all peoples of every age. Whether it is a festive or solemn time, the Art and Environment Liturgy try to make our hearts and minds more aware.
Cindy and I feel very blessed when we ask for help and many come and share their time and talent with us. Christmas and Easter are the biggest events with many things that need to be completed sometimes within a limited time frame. I especially feel blessed to have Cindy. We work so well together and have grown closer.
