Hope and Healing for the Catholic Family
Marriage is meant to last a lifetime. Most engaged couples approach their wedding days fully believing and intending this. Sadly, however, too many hearts and homes end up experiencing the pain of divorce. This often brings about unexpected and unimaginable heartache, questions, and challenges. Is healing possible? Yes! That’s the good news this program offers.
Surviving Divorce was created to bring hope and healing to those who have experienced the pain and loneliness of a broken marriage. It is for the newly separated and divorced and those still struggling with issues many years later. It will help them answer their questions, restore hope, and begin authentic healing. Developed and hosted by Rose Sweet, Surviving Divorce features experts Dr. Ray Guarendi, Ph.D., Fr. Donald Calloway, M.I.C., Fr. Steve Porter, S.T.L., Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J., and Christopher West. It also includes personal testimonies of Catholic men and women who have experienced the breakdown of their families. They courageously share their stories with heart, humor, and wisdom. As they witness to their pain and the healing power of Christ in their lives, participants will laugh, cry, and identify with their journeys from heartache to healing.

All Saints Catholic Church is ministering to divorced Catholics through a 12 week program including DVD presentations of Catholic Experts as well as 12 Catholic men and women who have gone through divorce and who were willing to courageously bare their hearts and share their stories with our viewing audience. As they witness to the pain they suffered and the healing power of Christ through His church and the Sacraments you’ll laugh, cry, and be able to relate to their heartache . . . and their hope. The fullest healing from divorce happens from the inside out.
You are invited to participate in a facilitated group of peers which will include the twelve DVD sessions. (See below for Registration information). These sessions are broken into three groups that start with getting one’s mental and emotional bearings.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
There's no such thing as "Catholic divorce" but the bad news is Catholics do civilly divorce. We're here to help, and to encourage healing through the Sacraments where you'll personally encounter Christ—with all His love and tender mercies. And that's the REALLY good news.
Sessions 1-4 ….. Finding PERFECT PEACE
The key to surviving and even growing stronger through divorce begins with the individual first finding his or her own inner balance (mentally, emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually). How can one begin that healing? By inviting God right into the middle of the mess; by beginning to live by what he or she knows to be true, not just what they are feeling today. Trust in God, even when it seems difficult. And remember that friendship with Jesus Christ is the only source of lasting peace.
Sessions 5-8 ……Finding PERFECT POWER
The many losses that happen during a divorce cause a devastating sense of powerlessness. It’s normal to try to regain some sense of control, but that can set a person into years of bitter battles for what they think is fair. Anger, bitterness, resentment, and self-pity can keep the divorced person mentally, emotionally, and spiritually weak. When a person has his/her life surrendered to and centered in Christ, the real power comes in forgiveness, detachment, and acceptance. Grace makes that possible!
Sessions 9 – 12 … Finding PERFECT PASSION
Divorced people tend to either recoil from relationships, frantically pursue them, or bounce back and forth between the two in an effort to avoid the pain of being alone. Marriage, annulment, love, sex, and dating are addressed in these last sessions that introduce the principles found in the "Theology of the Body". This revolutionary look at romance will lead to a passionate love for God and an intimate encounter with Him in the Eucharist. He alone can truly feed the hungry heart; He alone is the Love that truly satisfies.
The sessions will begin on Sunday, September 10, 2017 and run weekly for 12 consecutive Sundays, at 9:30 am. in the Catholic Education Center, 1st Floor, All Saints Catholic Church, 112 E. Market Street, Logansport, Indiana.
You may submit the registration forms electronically to Reba James at email@example.com or mail them to her at: 1749 N State Road 25, Logansport, IN 46947.
