Thank you for having me at your beautiful parish.
My name is Alicia Kuckkan, my family and I have been parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral for the past 10 years.
We moved from Chicago for a career opportunity for my husband and an enriching/caring community to raise our kids. St. Mary’s parish and the Catholic school systems has provided a faith filled home for us.
Recently, after being asked to be a member of the stewardship committee, I began to appreciate the commitments of St. Mary’s parishioners.
Some of their names grace the structures of the Church. Our family typically sits in the far right pew, adjacent to a stunning glass window of Our Lord speaking to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well.
Like the woman, Jesus knows us well. He is with us with our chores. He recognizes our daily troubles and concerns. As He told the woman at well, He is here to provide all that we need. At the base of the window is the name of the family who dedicated it to St. Mary’s Cathedral in memory of their parents.
This gift of generosity is an example of parishioners’ sharing their treasurers with the Church and a reminder of God’s love for us. So tonight, as we are about to prepare for our Lenten journey, I ask each of you to remember the gifts our past and present parishioners. But also to reflect how our personal gifts of time, talent and treasure is a reflection of our faith and commitment to our parish.
